Welcome to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Broken Arrow is a city located in northeastern Oklahoma. It is the largest suburb of Tulsa. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 74,859. Broken Arrow is located in Tulsa/Wagoner County, and borders Tulsa. Broken Arrow is approximately 20 minutes from Tulsa International Airport. The name comes from a Creek community who established a new town site at an area they had visited while gathering materials for making arrows. Since they had broken branches from the trees instead of cutting them to make their arrows, they named their new camp "Thlikachka" or "Broken Arrow." Broken Arrow truly demonstrates the home of the American Dream and is what we consider to be "the best of the best places to live" In recent years the Tulsa metro area has been recognized as the "Nation's second best city for livability" by Harper's Magazine and "One of America's best places to live" by U.S. News and World Report.

Broken Arrow is served at the K-12 level primarily by Broken Arrow Public Schools, and also by Union Public Schools. One of the campuses of Tulsa Technology Center is also in Broken Arrow. At the college level, Broken Arrow has a campus of Northeastern State University. Broken Arrow also has several scholastic chess clubs, including the ones at Wolf Creek Elementary/Oliver Middle School and Country Lane Elementary. The United States Chess Federation scholastic affiliate in Oklahoma is the Oklahoma Scholastic Chess Organization. Broken Arrow is also known for Broken Arrow Public Schools' high school marching band The Pride of Broken Arrow. A respect for traditional family values and religious diversity, a strong public educational system, quality employment opportunities, cultural activities and close access to the large city amenities in Tulsa make Broken Arrow the ideal place to work and live. Safaris Exotic Wildlife Sanctuary: Visitors always enjoy a stop at Safaris Exotic Wildlife Sanctuary to get a close-up view of Exotic Cats, Wolves, Bears, Primates, Reptiles, as well as many barnyard animals in the petting zoo.
